I just watched Wicker Park the other day and one line stuck in my head from the film:
"Things don't have to be extraordinary to be beautiful."
It's a cool perspective that makes you appreciate whatever you have now, wherever you are, and whatever you're doing. Although it talks about the ordinary, I think it's message is really the same as a quote I remember from the book The Way of the Peaceful Warrior:
"There are no ordinary moments."
It seems contradictory at first but when you think about it, both quotes say the same thing - every moment is special and there's something beautiful to be found in every moment if you just open yourself to it.
This summer, I'm gonna be taking pictures of "ordinary" things/situations that'll strike me as beautiful. First up..
"Golden Fireflies"
I felt like going out for some fresh air this afternoon and saw my uncle's bike at the back of the house. So I went out and rode it for a while just before sunset. I noticed these small flowers on the side of the road that lit up bright orange if you looked at it at a certain angle. They actually looked like weeds or just some "typical" flower from afar. But against the sunset and at the right angles, they look like this. Like golden fireflies lighting at the same time.
